The hook is how Blanche introduces his grandmother. He tells us a little bit about the grandmother to show a bit of her background. After that he starts telling us how she was robbed. The author says, “Someone chiseled a silver dollar right out of the floor.” This was an original phrase, which I had never heard before so it sounded interesting to me. “I was raised on depression stories was the next comment that caught my interest. “Sifting through the 150,000 pages in the dusty storage room, I was looking to fall in love.” This quote was descriptive while showing the stories. “Crammed in rickety filing cabinets in a remote storage room in the library stacks.” In this quote I could just imagine a crowded corner filled with cabinets and books.
